About Us

Deer Ridge Farm is a family owned and operated multi-use farm in the town of Guilford in beautiful southern Vermont. The farm is run by Jerry Smith and Lisa Holderness, and their son Stu, age 4. Operated organically since 1982, it is truly a vermont farm in all senses of the word-- growing vegetables in the summer for home use as well as sale at the local farmer's market, raising animals including pigs and goats and, in the early spring, tapping out maple trees and boiling down the sap to make delicious maple syrup (it's what Vermont is known for, after all!).

Jerry and Lisa, who also teaches environmental science at a local school, believe strongly in running a sustainable and responsible farm. They pride themselves on being able to provide for, and be supported by, the community they live in. For many years Deer Ridge Farm has occupied a stand at the Brattleboro Farmer's Market where they sell maple syrup, fresh vegetables, strawberries, fruits and cut flowers.
